Trench Rescue
Fort Mill 214 carries the minimum materials needed for a quick response to stabilize a trench incident. Additional materials for extended operations are acquired through agreements with local lumber yards by York County Emergency Management. Mutual aid with the Charlotte Fire Department gives us access to a Trench Pod with eight 4' by 8' panels, air shores, and other associated equipment that can be transported to the incident site.

The onboard cache of Trench Rescue Equipment includes:

  • 6, 90" by 42" trench panels (modified size to fit in compartment)
  • 6, 2" by 10" by 10' nailer boards
  • 6, 4, 90" by 42" ground pads
  • 2 pointed tip shovels
  • 2 flat shovels
  • 2 D-handle pointed tip shovels
  • 2 military folding shovels
  • 4, 24" Schedule 40 pipe screw jacks
  • 4, 36" Schedule 40 pipe screw jacks
  • 4, 48" Schedule 40 pipe screw jacks
  • 4, 8' by 6" by 6" timbers
  • 8, 8' by 4" by 4" timbers
  • Black and Decker 7 1/4" circular saw
  • 4 carpenters hammers
  • 2 saw horses
  • 20lbs #16 double head nails
